Family Reunion

Over Labor Day weekend, we had a Peterson/Goody family reunion in Swan Valley, Idaho. It was so pretty up there and we had such a great time. Clint and I had every intention of camping out... I even bought an air mattress so I wouldn't be completely miserable at 7 months pregnant sleeping on the ground. When we got there late Friday night some family members told us there was an extra room in the Lodge. We thought this lodge was just one big room where everyone would sleep, and that is why we chose to camp. The Lodge ended up being tons of rooms with beds and mattresses and showers and everything! Clint wanted to camp and I was really trying to be the good wife and camp since we had all the gear ready to go. The cousins of Clint's kept saying no no you are pregnant and you need to stay in the lodge. We ended up staying in the Lodge the first night, and we would set up camp the next morning when it wasn't dark. I woke up the next morning and told Clint that I really liked the lodge and he told me we could stay in our room the whole 3 days and he would not be mad that we weren't camping. I am so glad we did! It got soooo cold at night and it even rained for 2 of the nights. We did visit the family who were camping and had fun sitting around the camp fire. Here is a picture of their campsite and one of our lovely bed.

This lodge was built by Clint's grandpa years ago and is used as a girls camp facility. It is known for it's slide that his grandpa also made. This slide was unreal! I only went down it once the night we got there. It was about midnight and pitch black. It was pretty fun! The horrible part is hiking back up the stairs. I must be way out of shape because they really kicked my butt. People put cooking oil down it and were sliding down on pieces of plastic. I couldn't believe how fast some of these people were going! People were still going top speed by the end of the slide, and so they were flying off it. Scary! Here is the slide.

All the food was provided for the whole weekend, and I never ate so much in my life. It was so good! Here is a picture of us in the dining hall of the lodge while they were getting food ready on Saturday.
Clint only left me for a few hours Saturday to fish, and maybe 4 or 5 hours Sunday. This is not bad considering I thought he would ditch me with his family the entire time to fish! Swan Valley is right by the Palisades, Yellowstone, and the grand Teton National forest. Clint had a great time fishing, and me and Clint's sisters managed to have fun while the men fished. It started storming really bad during an obstacle course for the kids and everyone had to run for it back to the lodge. After a bit of rain, the hail started coming. Me, Ali, and Kindra all drove down to the meadow for the obstacle course, so we were able to run to the car and drive back. I did not want to get wet so I was running as fast as I could back to the car. I was beating Ali and Kindra! I am sure my prego belly running top speed was a hilarious sight to see. Everyone else had to run up the metal stairs for cover! Metal stairs and a storm don't seem very safe, but everyone made it ok. This picture was taken right after that, so we were all a bit wet.
Rachel, Kindra, me, and Ali (all Clint's sisters) On Sunday night, a bunch of us stayed up late and played games. It was such a blast!

Here we are eating dutch oven cobler and playing games. Yum! After we got done with all the games we could stand, someone in the extended family wanted to get a game of Bunco going. (I met so many people I couldn't even tell you who half of them are now!) None of us wanted to play Bunco, and so we were trying to get out of it. Clint and Grant (Clint's brother in law) were hiding out in the hallways trying to avoid getting sucked into playing. Ali and Kindra got roped into playing, and Clint said he needed me for something and saved me! All 3 of us were then hiding out in the hallways avoiding the people looking for more players. Here is us "hiding" lol

Here is Ali and Kindra playing Bunco with some relatives. Clint was in super stealth mode reaching around a corner trying to take pictures. I felt so bad!

After an hour or so of hiding when we knew no one would ask us to play, the boys began sneaking around trying to hit everyone with footballs and dart guns. Here is Clint with his dart gun.
All in all we had a really fun time, and I am really happy we went! I have never attended a family reunion with so many people and so many fun things to do. Here is one last picture of Clint and I. The flash didn't go off, so it's kinda dark.. and Clint is making a face, but it's so pretty in the background!

it looks like you had a fun time. i love that kind of stuff. and it's probably better you were able to stay in the lodge. you're a trooper for even considering camping at 7 months. i'm sure i'd be cranky and demand a real room! haha.

Sounds like you had fun! I don't think I would be going down that slide. It looks a little scary :)

Looks like everyone had a good time. We thought about driving out for it....just kidding! It would have been nice seeing my cousins that I haven't seen for a long time. I would have kicked Clint's butt if he would have made you sleep in the tent! Keep him in line.
