Fly Fishing

Clint took a Friday off work the other week to fly fish with his dad. I was pretty shocked when he called me around 4 saying he was on his way home.. he never comes home until it gets dark outside. Maybe he should go with his dad more often. :)

Smores & Hot Dogs

This afternoon all the family went up the canyon to get together. It was so much fun and I wish we could have stayed longer. After a few hours we were all frozen and tired of being rained on. It was fun while it lasted. :) We missed you Aullmans!

The Fowhawk Curl

Clint doesn’t want me cutting Bode’s hair and I already did it twice without his permission. It might look cute long so we’ll try it out I suppose. For now we have this in between look going on. It’s too long to stick it straight up, but I can’t bear to comb it over or just not do anything with it. So this is what we get for now. That chunk hanging over his ears just makes my skin curl. I really want to grab my scissors and snip it off…
He’s still pretty darn cute.

Softball

I love it when Clint’s softball games are early enough for Bode and I to tag along. The weather was pretty crappy last night and I considered staying at home, but Clint wasn’t going to be able to drive home to get his stuff and then go to the field in Provo in time for the game. Bode and I packed up Clint’s things and headed to the McDonalds in Lehi to meet Clint. Bode had so much fun at the game! He hung around the fences and stared at the game a lot. Any time his daddy was in the dugout Bode went running over to peek at him through the fence. I am pretty sure Clint loves it..

Bode was so dirty by the end of the game and we were so lucky because it started pouring rain as soon as we got in the car to go home. Great timing. :)

I thought it was so funny that Bode’s hair is just like mine. Being in the humidity all night just made his hair curlier and curlier. Reminds me of that friend’s episode – you know the one. :) 1_078

Spanish Fork Canyon

My parents live about 10 minutes away from this fun little park. We all headed up there for the afternoon on Saturday. Bode had a blast! He was playing on the playground, throwing rocks in the river, and feeding/chasing the ducks. I’m so glad that my little brother and parents came out to enjoy the beautiful day with us. We will have to do it again sometime. :) Here are a million pictures. Would you expect any less from me?? :)

Baby Gabe

I babysat for my neighbor the other day. Bode is normally taking his nap when the light is perfect in my house, so I took advantage. Isn’t he cute!?

Flowers & Bugs

It was { kind of } warm today so we played outside. Bode was in awe of the flowers for some reason. He’s seen them a million times by now and never stopped to smell or look at them. We have raspberries growing and they look so much better than they did last year! I really hope we get more berries this summer. If anyone has any extra starters we’ll take them!! (ahem.. neighbor Laura or gram B if you have any left after you give Erica some :)
 Web Files3Web Files
Bode was playing in the dirt while I was trying to weed the raspberries and found a roley poley. He handled the little bug so delicately! It was hilarious. It fell out of his hand and he didn’t care enough to look for it. I found a bunch of worms in the dirt so I gave Bode one of them. He looked at it… then chucked it into the grass and stared at it wiggle for a few minutes. Good times.

Jordan River Pkwy

Clint wanted to take the family fly fishing last Saturday morning. We decided we didn’t have enough time with everything else going on that day, so we went for a walk instead. I set up the tripod for a few tries at family pictures. I don’t have a remote so I basically set up the picture, hit the shutter button and ran to where Clint and Bode were in the 10 seconds I had. I have a few outtakes where I didn’t make it that are pretty funny. I told Clint not to squint and little did I know he’d put his sunglasses on in most of the pictures. I was too busy running to notice at the time.

It was a lot colder than we thought, but still very pretty.

Bode was pretty happy throwing rocks in the beginning, but he was over it in no time. I think he was cold and tired and hungry.  I didn’t bring jackets or snacks or anything.

I had a lot of fun and I can’t wait to do more “family” things this summer.. although I’m pretty sure a lot of the time it will be fly fishing.

My Mom’s Day

Mother’s Day was amazing! It started out Saturday when we went to dinner with Clint’s brother Andy and his lovely family. We ate at the Mayan and it was really fun. I do have some pictures, but none blog worthy. Those crazy strobe lights and darkness were really messing with my camera. Bode loved the diving show and we all had fun. After we ate we went to Clint’s sisters’ flower shop/bakery. Ali and Rachel are so talented! I took tons of pictures of all the flowers that were going to make tons of moms very happy! They also had really cute purses! I told Clint I really wanted one and he was so rude going on about how I had tons of purses and didn’t think I needed a new one. Well, he got it and hid it in the trunk for me to find when we got home. :)

These following pictures of the lovely flowers that made ME happy! Clint helped Ali deliver her arrangements Sunday morning because she had SO many to be delivered and came home with a gorgeous bouquet for me. Thanks Clint (ahem.. Ali..) He walked in and grabbed Bode and had him try and give me the flowers. They were pretty heavy for a little buster, but it was so cute. Sunday afternoon we headed out to my parents’ house and had a Mother’s Day meal with my sister Kelli and her family, too. Lots of good food and great company.

Since we’re on the subject of pretty flowers – our HOA almost ruined ours! They watered our plants and flowers on a night that froze last week. Those poor flowers drooped over and had ice all over them. I was so sad and thought for sure they were ruined. They popped right back up that afternoon and all was well again. :)

To all you Momma Birds out there..

Happy Mother’s Day! Being a mother is the most challenging yet rewarding calling I’ve ever had in my life.
I love being a mom. It’s the best feeling in the world. I never fully appreciated my own mom until I had Bode… and he’s not even a teenager yet! (I was a bratty one.)  Love you mom!

I hope everyone has a great day! I know I will. :)

Shots

I guess I’m not a very good mother because I took Bode to the Dr. at 15 months for shots only to find out he didn’t need any, but got his flu booster since it was due anyway. I had been taking him around to different pediatricians because I haven’t really found one I loved. So the one did everything at 12 months where the other one separated it from 12 months to 15. I got all confused. I thought I was good to go until he was 2, but I guess it was 18 months. SOO I took him in yesterday and he got some shots on top of being sick. :( They said it was ok as long as he didn’t have a fever… so who knows. He was pretty happy until the guy doing the shots came into the room. I said ,”Bode can you say shots?” He looked at me with a quivering lip and whispered, “shot.. shot...” It was so sad and then I had to hold him onto the table while the guy gave him 3 shots in slow motion I swear! After the first one Bode started saying, “No mommy no!” The guy was complaining how strong Bode was while he was reaching for a band aid for the first shot, trying to hold his legs down and grab the other 2 shots. Man he was slow. Bode was giving him the look of death until he left the room. As soon as I got him dressed and ready to go he saw the mean nurse in the hallway and smiled so big, waved and said, “bye bye!”
Bode is 34 inches tall which puts him in the 89th %, 26 pounds 8 oz which is in the 58th % and his head is in the 92nd %. So basically he’s really tall with a huge noggin. He’s learning so much so fast. He blows away the milestones he should be hitting at this age and learns more every day. He’s so cute and so sweet too! Since he’s been sick Clint and I have been giving him some extra lovin’ at bedtime. The other night I was rocking with him and rubbing his back and patting it and he looked up at me and started rubbing my shoulder like I had done his back. It was the cutest thing ever. Enough about me gushing about how my kid is the greatest. It really is embarrassing, but for those of you who don’t have kids you just wait!! It happens to the best of us.

Sick

So I guess it explains yesterday. Bode woke up sick today. :( He was a real bummer all morning. I gave him 4 popsicles before noon, that’s how bad it was. Clint surprised me and came home from work at lunch after my complaining of the rough morning. Bode was down for a nap when he got home, but then Gunner barked and woke him up. He was so happy the rest of the day! I was shocked. Now Clint thinks I was lying about the rough morning. Thanks Bode for making me look bad. He was pretty darn cute. I managed to get a few pictures of him without snot dripping down his nose.

Sunday

Oh Bode. You had quite the day today. It all started out with me not wanting to get out of bed when you woke up at 8:15. Dad got you out of your crib and into the shower before I was even out of bed. I woke up when you were done with the shower & rushed around to get us ready for church. Then Gunner ran away when your dad let him out. I stood in my bathroom curling my hair listening to you yell, “Gunna!!!!” for 5 minutes straight. I thought dad took you to church since by this time we were late, but really he took you around looking for Gunner. You came back home 10 minutes after you left when your dad informed me you had to stay home from church because you had a runny nose. The first thing I thought of is what game is on TV today?? I couldn’t argue the fact you did have a runny nose, so a day at home with your dad was just what you got.  I came home from church around 12:20 expecting you to be finishing up lunch so we could all nap. I found the house a wreck and you just waking up from a nap with your dad on the couch. The first thing I asked your dad was how long had you been asleep. He said he thought about an hour but he didn’t know and was half asleep himself. I tried to put you up in your crib for some more nap time and you freaked out. I found out from your dad you hadn’t had lunch yet. After I gave you lunch you threw up. I made your dad wake up and help me clean it. I tried to get you back to sleep and you were not happy. You kept rubbing your eyes telling me, “Nigh nigh” followed by “No Momma! No!” the second I tried to lay you down.  I saw the wind up and you were trying to hit me. I put you in time out and you cried so hard I thought you were going to throw up again. The rest of the afternoon was pretty rough, considering you usually do your own thing, giggle, talk a mile a minute, play with Gunner (who spent the entire day in his kennel btw).. You had a really long weekend with family in town with short naps and super late bedtimes. You were fine all weekend?!  Has everything caught up today? You barely ate any dinner, and after that we gave you a bath hoping to buy us some time before bed.  You love taking a bath. You had a great time. You were so stinkin’ cute as usual and we had fun watching you.  Dad got you to sit on your bum and I was so proud since you usually squat the entire bath. I forgot all about the fussy afternoon with you. Dad read you some books, I snuggled with you forever, but you had no intentions of going to bed. I tried to lay you next to me in my bed and I fell asleep but you crawled down and went downstairs to hang out with dad. I woke up about an hour later to you crying downstairs. I was mad you were still awake.  We finally got you to bed (or at least quiet and not screaming) and someone outside was being super noisy and you started crying. I left you to cry and you finally went to bed around 8:30. I guess it wasn’t the worst day in the world, but you are usually so awesome the bad days really stand out.  Please return to your normal self tomorrow. Pretty please. I have a play date tomorrow I don’t want to cancel.

Bode’s eyelashes are a mile long and the ones on his left eye always curl down and the other side curls up. It’s funny.
