Toys

Bode loves dumping out the toy box. I almost never let him do it because it drives me nuts to have the toys all spread out everywhere. It wouldn’t be such a bad thing – but Bode takes a million years to clean anything up. He whines and cries and says he needs help. He’ll pick up one thing, then play with it.. then walk around and find something else. He’ll decide he wants to “keep” the toy he was trying to put away and then put it on the couch. His keep pile is ginormous. I’m usually telling him it’s not play time it’s clean up time! A few times he will stop all together and sit on the couch telling me he is just too tired to do it.  It can seriously take an hour or more (if I make him do it all by himself)  because he refuses to go faster than a super slow snail like speed. I really do not know why it’s so hard for him! I have tried saying things like, “Come on buddy! As soon as you are done we can go outside and play!” It does not help. I’ve tried turning it into a game, singing songs, tons of stuff. If I help him with one little toy he all but gives up and expects me to do it all. This why he knows he’s not allowed to dump the toys.

This day he begged me. He said, “Mom! I promise promise promise I will clean them all up. By all myself mom! I will!”

The boys played and played.

Then came time for clean up - he was back to his shenanigans. He told me was just “so worn out from playing so hard.”

Some days I just don’t know what to do with my crazy kid.

Front Yard

Bode wanted to go outside one morning. It was like 8am. Normally I would say heck no it’s way too early. This particular morning I was feeling extra nice or something so I said sure. It was so nice to be outside – in our own yard – without any neighborhood punk kids! Maybe we’ll have to venture outside that early again.

Kangaroo Zoo

It’s been so blazing hot lately! Clint and I took the boys to this bouncy house to burn off some energy. The boys had so much fun. Owen is so cute and wanted to do everything the big kids were doing. Bode ran from one thing to the next and was on the go the entire time. It was so cute because they both played together a lot of the time. I love having two boys!

To the Pool

My friend Mindy invited us out to her brother’s pool a few weeks ago. The water was perfect, it was nice and secluded, and Owen had the time of his life. Bode on the other hand.. he was too busy fighting with the other boys to really have fun. Mindy and I have come to the conclusion that when the boys are outside and it’s hot .. they get grumpy and don’t play well. When they have play dates inside they are so good with each other! It’s too bad because it would have been a lot more fun if Bode was in better spirits.

Raspberries and Wheeler Farm

My grandma B has tons of raspberries in her backyard and Bode LOVES to help pick them. Grandma saved him a spot one afternoon and we headed up so he could pick some. He was so excited and both boys ate tons and tons of them after that. They love them!

It was so hot that afternoon.. we waited until later on and took the boys to Wheeler Farm. Grams and Gramps came along on their sweet bikes and we all had a blast. Bode loved seeing all the animals and feeding the ducks. Owen rode around in the stroller while he was checking everything out and seemed to enjoy himself. I reallllllly wanted to get one good picture of my grandma and her bike. I feel like I never get any because she doesn’t like being in pictures. I spent a few minutes trying to be sneaky and snapping pictures from my hip etc., but I finally just asked her if I could take one. She kind of got flustered and I got her laughing and took it. I love it! I’m so glad I asked. Gramps is always willing to smile for pictures so I had to get one of him too.

Bode is still talking about our fun night at Farmer in the Dell. For some reason that is what he called Wheeler Farm. I didn’t have the heart to correct him. He wants to go back soon!
