Alpine Fire

Right after we returned from our vacation, there was another fire. So many fires this summer all over the place. CRAZY. Bode was super cute and kept asking if we could “dribe up there and blow on it.” I kept telling him that the fire was way way too big and that we couldn’t blow it out. He then asked, “Well.. Can daddy blow on it?” Ya know.. because dads are bigger. So cute. After I told him that wouldn’t work either he had another idea. “Mom – how about when I get bigger and Owen gets bigger.. and you and daddy get EVEN MORE bigger we can all go up there and blow on it. Is that a good idea?” If only it was that simple.

Standing!

This adorable as ever ALMOST 8 month old is standing up on things. It started a few weeks ago. My camera was never handy.. so I am just now capturing it. He stands up on me, Bode, Clint, the couch, his crib, the stairs, the stand up thing, the toilet in the bathroom, the stool… just about everything he can! It makes me nervous because he falls off just about everything he stands on. He never cries. He just lays there… stunned for a few seconds.. then gets back up. I hope he doesn’t really hurt himself! I’ve got to keep a good eye on that little one. I was packing up our things to get ready to leave for Idaho when Owen started standing up on the stair. I was upstairs, but Bode ran from the couch over to the step. He laid down in front of Owen and kept on watching his show as usual. I come down to see my little Owen standing up and Bode said, “Don’t worry mom! I was watching him!” How cute are they?

I’m so Glad

So at least a couple times a day I tell Bode that I’m so glad to be his mom. It started a few months ago and I thought it – so I just said it. Then I kept saying it. Over and over. I’m not sure why, but I just really want Bode to know that I am SO glad that I am his mom. Today I was laying down by him for a few minutes before he took a nap. He leaned over and whispered, “Mom, I’m so glad I’m your Bode.”

I want to remember that forever.

Mini Golf

We decided to go on a family date night last week and it was so much fun! Bode NEVER says “so” as in so much. He always changes it to “too.” Even when he’s repeating prayers he changes it to too. So in Bode’s words, “It was too much fun!” :)

After dinner we headed to Trafalga. I had never been before, but it’s part of our 7 peaks passes so I figured we should take advantage. Bode and I were free for everything and I think we paid $6 for Clint to golf. Mini golfing was a riot. Bode kept swinging his club like he was playing baseball and then his golf ball would go flying off. We had to keep telling him to be soft and that our goal was to get the ball into the hole. He didn’t get it, but it did make for a fun time.

Bode has always been timid on carousels. His first experience on one was at the Hogle Zoo last summer. He was so freaked out, we had to sit on a peacock chair and not even mess with the horses. He has done ok at the Sandy mall carousel, but squeezed my arm until it had marks. At the carnival by our house he did fairly well. I still had to sit on the horse with him and he was ready to get off way before the ride was over. Well, this time he wanted to ride alone! I was shocked. He loved it. He was smiling from ear to ear the entire time telling me, “Mom- it’s too fun! I yike it mom!” I was so proud of him. Oh the little things. haha.

His favorite ride of the entire night was this dinky little pirate ship! I wish I would have snapped a picture of the whole thing because it really was small. Bode LOVED it!! Clint said he giggled his way through the entire ride. He was smiling so big and having the time of his life. He is so cute I can’t even stand it sometimes.

This was the beautiful sunset we saw on the drive home. I snapped a pic out of the window because I thought it was so pretty.

Crazy Utah Weather

A few weeks ago we went to a Fly Tying convention in Salt Lake. The weather was beautiful! It’s always a challenge bringing Bode along to things, but it ended up being fun. It’s a lot more fun to tag along with Clint.. even with Bode.. then to be stuck at home. Bode loved it! He ran around the place looking for flies and big big fish. He’s getting to be pretty obsessed with fish lately. He makes believe he’s made things out of play dough, or when he’s coloring, or just random stuff he picks up lately. He shows it to me and says, “Mom yook! A big big fish mom!”

He got a fish stamp on his hand and he thought that was the coolest thing ever. The picture above is the best shot I got of it before it rubbed off half way through the event.

Bode loves to ride on Clint’s neck! He’s obsessed with the book Where the Wild Things Are. Every night before bed I have to read it to him. He knows the book by heart, but it’s my favorite when I turn the page and he says, “And gew!” (for and grew.. ) And also the part at the very end when he says, “And it was too hot!” (and it was still hot.. talking about Max’s dinner.) Max rides on the monster’s neck at some point and Bode just loves that part. He will say, “Mac is ridin’ on that monster’s neck!!! I ride on Daddy’s neck, mom.” He’s so cute.

The VERY next day it snowed a ton. I am so ready for summer to be here! Snow snow go away and never come back. Bode had fun though….

Wedding Pics

Bode was looking through our wedding album one day for the longest time! It’s the first time he’s ever opened it up and he must have flipped through it 5 times. He kept pointing out people he knew, telling me what mommy and daddy were doing on each page, oooing and aahhhhing at how “pwetty” mommy is, etc. It was seriously the cutest thing EVER. I’m all pregnant and emotional but I shed a few tears over this one! He’s such a sweet thing and he really has the kindest heart. He’s always asking me if I’m ok and how I’m doing and telling me I look cute. It’s moments like this that keep reminding me how awesome it is to be a mother. He can be the biggest brat some days, but it’s all worth it!

I have a lot of catching up to do on the bloggity blog, so hopefully I can find the time this week!

Too much fast food..

I was pulling up to the drive through and 5 buck pizza tonight and Bode yelled from the back seat,

“ I hab a kids meal.. chickn’ nuggets ….. with fries.”

I felt like such a bad mom!!! He has never heard me say kids meal other than at McDonalds! Ahhhhh!!!
