A Drawing

Ok, so Bode is now 8 months old!!!! I don't have time to post about that right now, so check back tomorrow for pictures and an update on what Bode is doing these days.

The other day Bode was crawling all around trying to stand up on things, and he stood up on the coffee table, reached around and knocked down just about everything under it. (It's kind of a double coffee table where there is a main table and a section underneath.) I thought it was a good time to go through some of the crap and throw stuff away. As I was cleaning, I looked at him and he was chewing on something. Much to my surprise, it was the sketch the pediatric surgeon who performed his surgery made for us! I thought this little piece of paper was lost. I am so happy he found it! It's in pretty rough shape so I scanned it, and now I can save it forever. This is what Bode's intestines looked like when he was born.

All those zig zag marks in the lower bowel/intestine are where his intestines were webbed shut and some places not connected together at all. They were just floating around in there like sausage links. The dashes in the middle intestine show where it was swollen twice the size it should have been because the bile had nowhere to go and would pool up there, before coming back up as throw up. It looks like Clint wrote on the bottom "10/28 6pm" which is when his surgery was performed. It makes me want to cry just looking at this picture!! All of those emotions came back to me as I remembered that day. It seems like so long ago, and I don't even think about all he went through anymore.

Fast forward 8 months and he is crawling around curious about everything and CHEWING on the only thing that made me understand what was wrong with my baby. We are so lucky to have Bode happy and healthy!!
