I make a weally big mess, Mom.

That’s never what you want your 2 year old to say to you! I was supervising, so it could have been worse. My friends kept telling me that Bode needs crayons, paints, play dough… and other crafty things. I was feeling guilty that he didn’t already have that stuff. He brought a restaurant crayon home one day and colored a big line all over every wall on my main level. I scrubbed that black crayon off for hours, then I didn’t feel so bad.  I HATE messes and felt like we were just fine and dandy without that stuff. Bode is pretty self entertained and I have never needed a whole lot of toys or crafts to keep him busy. Well, for his birthday these neighbors got Bode all that stuff. I’m thankful don’t get me wrong! It’s just a huuuuge mess. Bode loves it and wants to get the stuff out everyday. He can open every closet and we don’t have a whole lot of space around here. He always finds the play dough! “Open it! Mom!!! Pwease, I need hep.” My little photography business has been keeping me busy lately and I’ve left Bode to wander around finding stuff to do on his own. Today I got out all the stuff (for the first time)  and we had a craft day!  I think these so called friends rallied around and thought of the MESSIEST stuff possible for a 2 year old. In fact, I think one of them told me that? Anywho, it was really nice of them and I am exaggerating a bit. I’m really good at that.

They were texting me tonight and asking me to do stuff and I was ignoring them!  I was trying not to get paint on my clothes, and giving Bode a bath and scrubbing the table. So my apologies.
(I really do love my friends and they are truly the best.)

Hahahahaha! Love it. Making messes is part of their mental development. That's what I keep telling myself.

Good call having him be naked, then you can just stick him in the tub after. I am the same as you, Wyatt just recently got crayons this past fall and I won't let him use them unless i am right there, and he can only have one at a time! I HATE messes! Finger paints are my nightmare! Ha Ha!

I hear you about the playdoh. I HATE playdoh. Oh my gosh I hate it and usually just throw it all away when they're sleeping.

I got the color wonder finger paints.. much less messy! Capri doesn't like her fingers to be messy and sticky though, so it doesn't last long. I never leave her unattended with pens or crayons! She drew a line on my wall with a pencil once.

Go with Color Wonder, they are fantastic products and you don't have to worry about it getting on your walls or Bode's clothes.

Oh, and I love Playdough for Capri. I just give her one color at a time and some little cookie cutters.. she'll play with it forever! Capri must be opposite, she won't keep herself busy by herself that long. She loves all sorts of arts though!
