Clint had a work conference last week, so we decided to make a fun family vacation out of it. Last year Clint would leave super early and come home late, so it was really nice for him to be right there at the hotel. We didn’t see him hardly at all the whole 2 days, but Bode and I had so much fun!
-We went to Discovery Gateway for 4 hours one day.
-Went shopping a little.
-We hung around temple square so Bode could “Frow money in the water.”
-Watched a few movies in the hotel room.
-Rode Trax all around downtown.
-Visited the play area at the Joseph Smith Memorial building and cooked up some dinner with fake food. Oh and Bode colored a family tree picture.
-Enjoyed our view from the 8th story.
-Ate out more than anyone wanted to! One night we ordered Pizza to our hotel room and Bode thought that was sooooo cool! I never thought about it, but we’ve never had pizza delivered to our house since he was born.
The first night we got to the hotel Clint introduced us to a co worker of his. Bode was running around the lobby playing with this other kid. Before we know it he’s fallen down a flight of stairs and he is hysterical! We both tried to calm him down, but he was way too worked up. He didn’t even hurt himself too badly and Clint was right there to catch his fall. It just scared him more than anything. For the past few weeks if Bode cries too hard, coughs too hard, or eats too much he throws up. We almost always know it’s coming and this was one of those times. He’s crying so hard and keeps saying, “I’n gonna frow up.” Clint’s co worker is asking if he’s ok and Clint’s saying to me in a whisper, “Get him outside, now!” I barely made it and sure enough he “frowed up.” What a way to start the trip! We had the same pleasure of dealing with that a few nights ago at Zupas. That one was out of nowhere though, after he ate really well. UGH! Anyway..
Bode is so funny and talkative these days. He goes through phases of being shy and I will tell him to say something and he’ll say, “No I’n too shy.” This trip he wasn’t very shy at all! At Discovery Gateway he found 2 plastic fish in the fake market right away. He carried around those things the entire time we were there! One kid tried to take one from him and Bode said, “No! It’s mine and NO sharing.” I made him give one up and he wasn’t very happy, but gave the kid one of the fish. He said, “Ok ok I share. Here ya go. I’n bein’ nice, ok?” The other kid could have cared less about it and ended up dropping it 2 seconds later. Bode scooped it right back up and the kid turned around and hit him! Bode went straight for the kids mom and said, “He hit me and he’s naughty. Put in time out! He’s not nice, he hurt me.” The mom was apologizing to me and Bode and I assured her he was JUST fine and not to worry. He was playing the victim for sure! The kid didn’t even hit him that hard.. but still he was right and it was naughty. The mom didn’t do anything to her kid, but Bode WOULD have been put in time out. Oh well. Another kid fell down this mini stair case and landed right on his head. Bode ran over to his mom and said, “Oh no! He bonked a head. It’s gonna be ok, is he ok? He needs more help. Go help.” The mom was laughing and came over to me and asked if that was my talkative son and he was so cute. I can’t believe how much he blabs to strangers! The next afternoon we hung around temple square and every time he pointed to someone and said, “Who’s that?” I said, “Bode that’s a stranger and we don’t talk to strangers ok?” Hopefully he learned something.
Bode is always sticking out his tongue!
He was gathering rocks to throw in the fountain, and a view from our balcony.
We had a great time and it was nice for Clint to stroll right into the hotel room at midnight, not needing to worry about the drive home. Thanks Clint for letting us tag along!

this post made me smile and laugh. thanks
I can't believe how well he is talking! Capri talks a lot, but is just starting to do the two word sentences. You must really work on this with him! Sounds like a fun vaca.
ALL 3 of my kids gag and/or throw up when they're upset. I have to get in Anna's face and make her take deep breaths to prevent the "barf up". Annoying if you ask me. Oh and I love the pictures.
I'm so glad you are alive :) I was starting to get worried because you hadn't posted anything for so long. What a fun idea to go to the conference with him-didn't even think of that! You are lucky that Bode talks so much to other people. Elli has got some serious shy thing going on and people think she can't talk at all. It drives me crazy. He sounds like such a cute bugger! We need to meet him one of these days. Anyways...glad you are alive :)
wow he has grown up so much! and seems sooo talkative!! :) and that mini market is just adorable!! never seen anythinglike it in my life! :)
