Preschool

Bode technically isn’t old enough for preschool yet. He barely misses the deadline. I found a teacher right down the street from me who would take him anyway. We talked up school and he was pretty excited about it! Clint took him to the open house before school started and he seemed to have a really fun time. Clint said he was super happy and excited about school. The morning of he was kind of grumpy. I think he knew what was coming because he started saying, “Stay one minute?” I reassured him I would stay for one minute and that he was going to have so much fun. He had to color a picture of himself and also a paper of ABCs so we grabbed his homework and I snapped some pics before we walked over. He wasn’t very happy or excited! :(

His little friend Gabe was so excited for school. He was all smiles getting ready to walk in and Bode was so sad. Gabe tried to put his arm around Bode for some pictures and Bode did not like that at all.

 

He ran up the stairs to where preschool was but as soon as we got up there he had to sit on my lap. He didn’t want to play with the toys or anything. I could tell we were in for it. After like 10 minutes of him whining for me not to leave and finally a full blown cry fest, his teacher grabbed him so I could leave. He was NOT happy!! I felt so guilty leaving him like that. I told Miss Holly to call me if he didn’t calm down, but that I thought it wouldn’t last long. I never got a call, thank heavens. I was going to run to the grocery store but I didn’t even go because I was worried I might just get a call.

He came out of there so happy! His teacher gave him a bag and he thought that was the neatest thing. His teacher said he only cried for a few minutes and he was fine after that. When I asked him what he did at school he said, “We did ABCs and I showed my picture.” That’s all I could get from him, but my neighbor said all Gabe talked about was parachutes. SO maybe they played with parachutes! Who knows. He talked about school for the rest of the day! I think he had a really fun time.

I wanted to get a picture with him and his teacher. She asked if he wanted to sit on her lap and he did! I was shocked. I think he really likes her.

Today was day 2 for school and he seemed hesitant! He kept telling me I needed to stay for one minute. I ended up staying for about 5 or 10. When he walked in the teacher had play dough for all the kids. Bode LOVES play dough and so he was pretty happy. When I felt like it was time to go he gave me a kiss and a hug and off I was. Much smoother!!! I’m so happy for preschool and I think it will be really good for Bode. It’ll be nice for me to catch a break Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-12:00 too. :)
