Halloween 2013

Man alive! Halloween was so much fun. Bode went back and forth with what he wanted to be. He was still obsessed with dinosaurs, but also had a dragon costume that he wanted to wear again. A few months before Halloween he started becoming obsessed with sharks. I thought it would be awesome to have him dress up as one and so I mentioned it to him and he flipped out! The only problem was that once I started looking for shark costumes, I couldn’t find ANY he (or I) liked. I finally settled one on Amazon.com, but realized I was cutting it super close with shipping. Thank heavens for prime free 2-day shipping, am I right? Anyway, it arrived the day BEFORE Halloween. Once it arrived, it was the wrong size! He tried it on and holy cow that was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. AHH! I called the company and they immediately sent me the right size next day air. They could not guarantee the time it would be delivered and we had to head out to Clint’s work right after preschool. I was doubtful we would have it.

Backup plan: Fly fisherman. We had plenty of that stuff lying around and threw an outfit together in a few minutes. Bode went to preschool like that and he actually loved it. The package arrived two minutes before I needed to leave, no lie. Bode was so excited that it came, he changed and off we were to Clint’s company trick or treat.

The boys always love trick or treating at Clint’s work and walking up and down the cubicles to see everyone. Clint gave Owen a sour head candy, and we were hoping for this hilarious reaction, but he took it like a champ! He is such a funny kid.

When Reuben (Clint’s brother) moved to Utah, he got a job at Optum. Clint’s oldest brother, Andy, already works there too. Lucky for us we get to see so much family when we visit work too. The boys loved seeing their cousins, and they were so cute in their costumes! Darci and Brooklyn were both Sophia the first. We joked around that one was the second! I had to get a picture of all the cousins and Owen was cracking us up. He jumped right in line, looked towards Jodi’s camera and smiled the cheesiest smile ever! He is the son of a photographer, it’s not his first rodeo. The hilarious smile was a surprise though. He’s so cute.

Who knows what Clint was dressed up as, but this was during his crazy ‘grow a beard while I work on the new house’ stage. The sweet jean jacket belonged to his dad. Thanks for that Ron…

We finished up in Salt Lake for the work thing and headed home to Eagle Mountain for trick or treating. I hadn’t taken any pictures of the kids in their costumes, so I hurried and did that. Other kids had started trick or treating and so Bode’s attention span was um… NOTHING. I ended up with way more of Owen. That seems to be the case a lot of the time.

Our friends, the Rasmusen’s, asked us to trick or treat with them because it was going to be our last year in the neighborhood. Of course we wanted to, and the kids had a blast. We didn’t last long and headed home for soup and pumpkin carving. Bode wanted a shark, and so I found a stencil online and Clint made it happen.

It was seriously such a great day!!! We loved spending time with Clint after such a long time apart (two weeks at this point.) I love my little family!
