Family pictures for the fall did not work out for us. I was swamped taking other people’s family photos, and Clint was up to his eyeballs in house work. I had not one, but TWO trades waiting for me by fabulous photographer friends. We just could not find any time! Even if I found a spare hour in our schedules that we didn’t have something planned, Clint had that beard. I never complain about his facial hair (besides when he has a mustache because that is just gross…) but that being said, I did not want to remember it for always in a family portrait. I had a shoot at this same location and told Clint I wanted to go exploring with the family and scout it out. He said we could and so I planned on it.
Well, the more I thought about it… the more I thought Hey! Awesome location.. fall colors.. the whole family.. it all sounded like a good time to try for some pictures. I was hoping for one that would be Christmas card appropriate. I threw outfits together in 20 minutes. Whatever was clean worked and I didn’t love any of it.
Well. It was freezing. I mean beyond cold. Moccasins are cute and all, but they are not practical for an adventurous little boy mixed with mud and damp grass. Owen was a wreck. Bode just wanted to explore and he was super cute to stop and be cooperative, but lets face it. NO ONE in my family likes pictures besides me. A self timer/run family portrait dealio was not in the cards. Clint was staying positive and helped out a ton with Owen, which I was really glad for because I was starting to get mad. We did end up with some really cute shots. I will say though that I would much rather work with someone else’s family than my own! If it wasn’t for my awesome hubby behind the camera or behind me getting the boy’s attention, we would have ended up with nothing useable. That is a fact. We will be getting our pictures done soon. By someone else! And Clint will have to be in those. : ) I need some canvases for my new house.
This first one below on the left is one of my fave pictures of me and the boys. Owen is NOT laughing as it might seem. He’s actually screaming, which makes me like it even more. That is real life, folks.
