Lake Powell

Clint and his brothers bought a house boat. Once Clint has his mind set on something, there is pretty much nothing I can do to sway his opinion. I had some reservations about this whole buy a house boat plan, but it really has been so fun. The boys have all these amazing memories of Lake Powell as kids and really wanted their own families to be able to make some as well.

Initially, it was a lot of work and time away from us, but the trips are SO much fun. Clint, Andy and Reuben did all of the dirty work (literally… the pooper tank needed to be repaired…) Along with other things that needed to be done. We have already been twice this summer and hope to go at least once more! These pictures are from the first trip. We all went together, and it was a blast. Jess and Jodi had the boat all cleaned out by the time we arrived a day late (because of Bode’s preschool graduation..) And the food was already planned and prepared. It was so nice! Thanks guys!

We went boating, tubing, cliff jumping, and fishing. I think Bode and Owen’s favorite activity was by far the fishing. They fished so much! It was super convenient to be able to fish off the back fish deck, and Bode became a bread ball pro by the end of the trip. They were both net boys, but Owen made sure he could net all the fish when he was around for them. The boys also loved playing in the sand and hanging out with their cousins. They did NOT love tubing. I did though! I got to tube quite a bit and it’s a big giggle fest tubing with my nieces. We had so much fun. I even jumped off a cliff a few times! Clint says it was only about 25-30 feet, but it felt like a lot farther. Clint didn’t think I would do it and that made me have to do it just for that reason alone. I was the first to go (less time to worry) and after my countdown, I went for it. Clint jumped quite a bit! We also jumped off the house boat, which was fun, too. The boys also loved sleeping in a tent on the roof of the boat.

I’m always playing catch up, but I will post the second trip whenever I get around to the million other things that happened before that!
