Carpin it up.

Today was pretty great. It's the first Saturday in I don't even know how long that no one had any plans. Clint let me sleep in, he even made me breakfast in bed. What a guy. We watched conference, packed up and headed to go fishing. We listened to some conference on the way to the reservoir. Between telling the boys to be quiet, I kind of got bits and pieces of what was being said. There were lots of good talks today, but I loved this one. I loved the analogy and I only hope that I can help my family (and myself) hear the music. I loved his parenting advice!

Bode boy is obsessed with fishing. Ever since we went to a fly fishing expo last weekend, he has been talking about tying more flies and catching fish. Well, today he got to! It was such a great day making memories. It was windy and chilly, but everyone was a good sport. We kept telling Owen to be super careful in the water. I held his hand for the first part of the trip, but he wanted his freedom and eventually I did let him walk around. Well, he started running around and ended up falling in. His waders got soaked and we had to get him naked and warmed up. It was pretty traumatic, but a good lesson I think! The water was shallow. It was cold, but not freezing. I am glad I brought 2 fleece blankets and he was able to get warmed up fairly fast. I think he will be a lot more careful next time. Plus he got to ride home naked, which he was super excited about. haha! He was crying saying he wanted to go home but we snuggled, I told him stories of when he was a baby and funny things he used to do. He got so warm he said he was getting hot. We started watching the fish rise all over and looked for ducks dunking in their heads to look for food. He was really cute and said he wanted to stay there for infinity of days.

Bode kept going back and forth seeing what Clint was up to fishing and what me and Owen were up to chatting. He spotted a dead carp on the edge of the bank and picked it up with a stick and walked it over to where we were sitting. Right when he got to us the stick broke and that huge dead carp dropped basically at our feet. I screamed, Clint looked back and laughed and Bode thought it was so funny. I did not! It was so gross and smelly. Right after that happened Clint caught a fish. I was glad we got one and I was ready to haul a naked Owen back up the small hike to the car. Bode and Clint stayed a bit longer, but never did land any more fish. I say one is better than none any day!

Owen was saying, "Howdy partner."
