Spring

Love it when the flowers come every Spring. After these die, the Tulips come. After them, then it’s the lilies. I should really weed the area, but I’m too lazy for that. It’s been so nice and the boys have been spending lots of time outside. The neighbor’s cat likes to hide in our bushes and the boys love trying to find her. Owen calls her Meow Meow and goes wherever she does.

Tulip Festival

I had never been to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point before but always wanted to go. My mom invited us, so I thought might as well check it out. The boys had the time of their lives. We had a golf cart, which I highly recommend! They spent most of the time feeding fish and could have stayed by the water the entire time. They’re so funny.. just like their daddy. My little brother, Bret, chased around the boys the whole time while I snapped pictures. It was nice to let someone else worry about them falling into water and holding their shirts the whole time. It can be exhausting!

After a few hours of exploring around we met Clint for dinner. Bode chowed down and Owen just wanted ice cream. Surprise.. he doesn’t eat when we are out. He just got another molar as well.I’m surprised Bode ate so much actually. What is it with my boys?! They do terrible at restaurants. Anyway, here’s a million pictures.

Conference Weekend

So my church does a General Conference twice a year. Prophets of today speak to all the members and it is broadcast all over the world. I hate to say it, but I haven’t always been a faithful conference watcher. We record it on the DVR where it remains forever and I watch some parts here and there. This time was different. I knew that I needed to hear the words that were going to be spoken and I made myself watch all of it.

I missed the first part of the Sunday morning session because I woke up with a doozy of a headache. During the break I found the part I missed on my phone and listened to it. I am so glad that I did because I needed to hear this talk : The Hope of God's Light By President Dieter F. Uchtdorf.

After the broadcast was over we headed to my parent’s house for dinner and fun in the backyard. The food was delicious and the boys had a blast. My mom called a neighbor to see if her son could come play with Bode. Those boys got along great and were so cute with each other. The older boys played a rousing game of don’t let the ball touch the ground and I sat in a lawn chair with a blanket. I’m a wimp and it was cold. What can I say?

Two tired little boys slept great that night. 2013-04-20_0004

Peanut Butter Ice Cream

I got an ice cream maker. I love ice cream. This is a really bad combination. The first time making any was a huge fiasco. I didn’t refrigerate the mixture like it suggested because I was too impatient to wait a few hours. Well, apparently that was a really important step. It only takes 20 minutes to make, but the metal bowl takes 24 hours to freeze before you can use it. It also thaws out SUPER fast. In like 20 minutes fast. By the time I realized the ice cream wasn’t going to harden, that bowl was already defrosted and I had to re freeze that darn thing another 24 hours.

We went to the tulip festival that next day and right when we got home I wanted to make some. It had been about 20 hours so I figured what the heck. You would think I would learn my lesson, but did I mention how impatient I am?  We ended up having milk shakes. They were the most delicious milk shakes I have ever had though! A night in the freezer and it was perfect. 2013-04-19_00032013-04-19_00072013-04-19_00042013-04-19_00052013-04-19_00092013-04-19_00152013-04-19_00112013-04-19_0014

I had my camera set on the window thing above the sink so Owen couldn’t reach and Bode snapped these pictures of me making dinner. He’s such a goof. I didn’t know about the first one then he said, “Hey Mom!” to get me to look. He knows my tricks. 2013-04-19_0016
