The weather has been pretty warm lately and so Bode has been outside a lot. He loves playing with his friends and exploring in the dirt and stuff. It’s nice that we can finally get out of the house, but it also drives me crazy because when I’m outside with him all day then I get nothing done in my house!
Bode was out having fun when he noticed that our neighbor’s sprinklers went on. He looked at me, smiled this huge smile, and asked “Mom!? Can I go play in the water!?” The sun was almost gone and I told him that it was going to be freezing cold, but he didn’t care.
The neighbor came outside and was chatting with me for a few minutes and told Bode that about a week ago a bird’s egg fell out of the nest and was under the tree. He moved all the branches and Bode went in to get the egg. He was SO excited because he loves playing with eggs. He brought into the house to show Clint and automatically Clint did not think that was a great idea for him to be playing with a rotten egg. I thought it’d be fine and we were headed back outside anyway. A few minutes later.. Bode squeezed it a little bit too hard and it cracked in his hand. Just a TINY bit of the liquid got on his hand and we immediately threw it away.. threw the trash away to the dumpster outside, washed Bode’s hands.. washed my hands from washing his hands and after all that it still made my entire kitchen smell AWFUL. I didn’t want to tell Clint that Bode had broken the egg, but the smell gave it away. Once again he was probably right about not letting him have it. Oh well. That’s how kids learn I suppose.
