Bode Bode

His little personality is really coming through now, and it's so much fun. He makes us laugh all the time. On a side note: I NEED ADVICE. Bode is a thumb sucker. That's right. He loves his thumb. He won't take a binkie anymore. Who needs a binkie when you have your thumb? I snuck in his room while he was falling asleep to take this picture. Poor kid got startled from the shutter and opened his eyes. I hope this is just a phase. It's been going on for about a week now. I put him in his crib awake for all naps and bed time and he goes to sleep. Well, this is his favorite time to suck on it. I always check on him to make sure he fell asleep, or is working on falling asleep and the blanket isn't covering his face and that is when I see it! UGH. Help!

He is so cute! I don't have a lot of experience with thumb sucking. Both of my kids have always liked using a binky. However, Griffin did go through a short stage where he would suck on his fingers. Honestly, if it's not one thing it's another. I say whatever is soothing for them works for me! I am embarrassed to say Ayla still uses a binky to fall asleep at night. But, once she is asleep she doesn't keep it in. I think it becomes more of a problem when they start to get their permanent teeth. I guess if you would rather him take a binky, continue to offer it to him when he is falling asleep and maybe he will start liking it again. Sorry for the novel!

Oohhh! You have the cutest pictures! To be honest, I wished my last one was a thumb sucker so I could get some sleep! I've never had a thumb sucker, though, so have no advice except I think it is cute!

I love him AND his baldness. Neither one of mine sucked their thumbs but I have always heard that thumb sucking babies are some of the happiest babies. I wouldn't worry about it. Either he's going to be a thumb sucker or not...not much anyone can do about it. Don't worry.

i wouldn't fight it~ he is a baby and it provides him comfort. like the comment above- Ivy was less interested in the paci for about a month and sucked on her fingers but then went back to the paci. (and still loves her paci in the bed and rare occasions i let her have it out of the bed). he is just a baby and you can deal with this if it is still an issue at age 5! haha :)

He is so cute! I love that he sucks his thumb :) There is nothing wrong with a thumb sucker! Neither of my kids did it, but I did and my baby sister is one, and the baby I watch is one. Honestly it is a lot cheaper than a binkie. I spent so much money on binkies and the clips so they wouldn't get lost, but they always ended up lost and the clips would break. So that is a positive of thumb sucking. Some people say it will screw their teeth up. But I sucked mine until 1st grade. Embarrassing I know :) but I have never had braces and my teeth are straight. So I would just let him suck his thumb. Plus at night his thumb is never lost he knows where it is compared to a binkie that falls off and they wake up crying because they can not find it.

Our pediatrician told us that he encourages thumb and finger sucking. He says it's a sign of intelligence because they can figure out how to put something like that in their mouths at a young age and self sooth themselves. Capri was sucking on her fingers and fists from the beginning. I thought that was a good way to think of it, whether it's true or not! lol And if bink's can prevent SIDS, then who's to say thumb sucking can't? Right? lol I think it's cute either way.
