Messy

At Bode's 4 month checkup, my pediatrician told me I could start trying cereal whenever I wanted. He sleeps from 7 pm to 7 am most of the time waking up once to eat. The pediatrician said that a night time feeding with cereal would help get rid of the middle of the night wakings. This would be great! I tried and it was very unsuccessful. Clint could not understand how I got the cereal up his nose. I told him to try himself, but he didn't want to. It's messy! Bode can't quite figure out what to do. This was my 4th time trying, and I thought it would be easier to strip him down and put him in the tub. I don't think he swallowed any. Everything that goes in comes right back out. I hope he gets the hang of it soon! At least it was pretty easy to get him clean this time.

He will get it eventually. What's the trick to getting him to sleep 7pm-7am, only waking up once. I could really use that right now. See, there really are advantages to formula and bottle feeding.

We would put the cereal mixed with Stella's nighttime bottle; it would be a thick bottle. Then we cut a tiny slit in the nipple so it wouldn't get clogged. She slept like a dream. She didn't figure out how to eat it off a spoon for a long time it seemed.
Good luck!

Our little high-chair tilts back so we would lean Kaylan back as far as it would go and that made it a little easier for her to figure out she could swallow it like milk. He'll get the hang of it! He sure looks cute trying!

I tried at 4 months, and it was pointless. People told me the first time would be like that, so keep trying. I tried again each day that week with no success. Then I tried once a week until we went to Utah for Christmas. When I tried again after getting back (she was 6 months then) she still wouldn't eat the cereal. So I had a bright idea. Maybe she doesn't like cereal. Tried carrots, and we've never looked back. She just hates cereal.

hang in there... the first 2 weeks i started feeding both Lily and William... all they did was spit it out and play with it. Eventually they do get the hang of it and figure it out.. maybe your cereal is a little too runny? and trust me... cereal is the least of your cleaning up worries.. wait until he poops on the floor (full fledged 2 year old poop) while potty training... its fun!

hes so cute with the cereal all over him! Did the Doc say anything about maybe puttin a little fruit mixed w. it yet? Tyler HATED the cereal by itself(i tried it and it tasted like sawdust) so I would always mix a fruit...Bode may be too young still, I cant remember when I started that w/ Ty.
