We had the best weekend ever! We left Thursday afternoon to cold weather and a dust storm. We checked into a hotel in Bicknell and it was so much fun to be together as a family all in one room. Clint's always wishing Bode would sleep in our bed with us and for the first time ever he did! He moved around soo much and both Clint and I were saying it wasn't all that great.
We woke up that morning and after we got the packs ready for the hike, we ate breakfast at a small town bakery. Tourists are so funny to watch! I have a serious staring problem and Clint kept telling me to stop being so obvious. The hike was only a mile but it was pretty steep. It was so windy and once we got to the lake it was pretty miserable. The wind was just howling (60mph!) and it was pretty cold. Bode was sick, but he had a blast throwing rocks for a few hours The wind knocked him over and he hit his head on a rock and he was done for. Clint finally agreed it was pretty miserable. After he missed a few fish and the one he landed got off before we could show Bode- he agreed it was time to head back. Bode fell asleep in the pack on Clint's back and stayed asleep for an extra hour after the hike back. We just kept him in the pack in the truck and fished the little streams nearby. Clint caught a bunch of tiny fish and I caught my very first fish on a fly rod! I was pretty excited even though it was really small. After Bode woke up he joined us on the rivers and saw a bunch of little fish. He was pretty scared and wouldn't get near any of them. The wind was making us so mad we didn't fish the streams for very long before we headed back into town for some lunch. After that we drove down to St. George.
The weather was so nice! Bode and Clint slept in the same bed for the trip and Clint complained every morning about how he didn't get any sleep, but the next night would come and he wanted to sleep with him again! Bode was sick with an off and on fever the whole time, but he did pretty well. I took a million pictures of flowers, bees on flowers, two red banded geckos that Ron found, and tons of Bode. I was so worried Bode would burn his scalp since he wouldn't wear the sun hat. I put sunscreen on his head and his hair was out of control! The pictures make me laugh. We played in the pool a ton, watched movies every night, shopped, ate great food, and on Memorial Day we went to Zions. It was the best day! The weather was perfect and the hike was so pretty. Bode got so close to squirrels and had the time of his life throwing rocks. Maia, Clint and I gathered rocks and Bode tossed every one into the river. We ate at Oscar's which is near the park and had a great time talking and watching Bode try to make a mess of everything on the table.
Tuesday morning we headed back home and in Scipio there was a petting zoo across the street from the gas station. It was totally random but Bode loved it! He tried to pet a sheep and started crying when it moved towards him. He was pretty iffy on all the animals after that, but once we were back in the car he kept making the sounds for all the animals. Here are the pictures from our trip and I hope everyone had a great weekend too!
Thanks to Ron, Bonnie, Angie and Maia for the great company. We already want to go back very soon!
