Independence Day

I was really glad we came home from Island Park a day early! We took a long family nap Monday afternoon, and geared up for the firework show Monday night. We debated which show to watch this year, and finally decided on the Murray show. Our car was parked at Clint’s sister’s house from our Idaho trip. We forgot about picking it up Sunday on our way home, so we had to go to Murray where she lives anyway. I’m so glad we went to this show! I heard the Sugar House and Thanksgiving Point shows were both nuts. There weren’t many people in Murray and we didn’t have to fight traffic, which was nice. We picked up some dinner and ate it at the park and just waited around for the show to start. Clint and Bode played around together, Bode rolled around on the grass, and there was a set of bleachers nearby that kept Bode very entertained.

Bode kept wanting Clint to go with him on the bleachers. I’m not sure why he loved them so much!

The show was short and sweet. Bode HATES fireworks and so before it even started he was begging to go home. Shortly after it started he hid below the blanket. Clint got him to come out, and then he sat in his stroller and pulled the sun blocker thing down. That’s where he stayed the rest of the show. As soon as it ended he was saying, “All done!!! Let’s go home, ok?”

I love trying to capture fireworks in pictures. The show only lasted maybe 15 minutes and they shot them off so fast! I was having a hard time with my settings, but I think I got some pretty cool shots.

We got home and it was super late. Clint wanted to get rid of the sparklers we had lying around, so we went outside and lit some up. Bode would not do them with us! He hid inside the house behind the armoire in the living room. Every now and then we would see him peaking through the front window. Clint and I had fun. :)

I feel so blessed to live in a free country and I’m so thankful for the people who fight to protect those freedoms.

Super cool fireworks pictures! I still haven't had the chance to try that out. I am lame and watched a show at home on TV this year. Marshall was in bed and I was sorting 250 camp t-shirts into wards/sizes.

Love the comments about Bode being so timid at the water park. Just makes me laugh. These kids sure do have strong personalities for such little guys! hahaha
