I just can not believe it’s already been two months! Where does the time go?? I totally forgot to do a post dedicated to Owen being one month old. Second child syndrome? I think so. I’m going to try and start with 2 months and continue on until he’s one. That’s what I did for Bode – so I should do the same for Owen.
Let’s see.. Baby Owen. His actual 2 month check up isn’t until next week, so I’ll post again then.
He’s just the sweetest thing. I was so bummed out when I found out I wasn’t having a girl. Now I just can’t imagine life without my little Owen. He’s one great baby! He’s very calm and chill most of the time. He usually wakes up around 9 or 9:30 am and has to eat right away. After he’s got a full tum tum he’s happy as can be! He just lays around looking at Bode running around a mile a minute and taking it all in. He’s usually only awake about an hour and he’s back down for a nap, in his swing. He loves his swing. That is pretty much how his whole day goes! Awake, eat, play until it’s been an hour, go back to sleep for 2 hours. It’s so nice! When he was really little (like new to one month) he used to want to eat all the time. I’m talking every hour and a half to two hours. It was such a pain to get anything else done. Now he can usually go anywhere from 2-4 hours during the day and about 3-5 hours at night. Getting him to sleep at night is definitely the worst time for him. He gets all frantic and all he wants to do is nurse, but then he’s fighting me and gets all crazy. Poor thing is just so tired, but can’t calm down to sleep. He doesn’t want to be rocked, forget about the swing. He just wants to nurse. I can usually get him to go down for the night around 9-10pm. Then he normally wakes up at 12, 3, 6, and awake for the day at 9-9:30. Last night he slept from 10 to 1 then from 1 to 5 and again from 5 to 9. It was great!
I’m really sad he’s growing so fast, but a part of me can’t wait until he’s 4 months old and I can let him cry it out. I know some people are against it, but I love it when they learn how to self sooth themselves to sleep! It beats fighting a super tired baby. It’s not so bad, but I joke around with Clint that I’m always banished to the room at night. Clint can be trying to calm him down forever and the second I go pick him up and talk to him he stops crying. I’m glad I can *usually* calm him down, but I feel like I’m trapped in the room until he’s asleep! Good thing he’s so cute and I love him so much. Any other time besides bedtime and he’s the easiest baby, so I can handle a fussy hour or two.
Here are a few more things I don’t want to forget about him at this age:
-He’s just now starting to be interactive with us. I can get him to smile and he’ll coo. It’s just the cutest thing.
- He is such a little grunter! I mean loud grunts. It’s hilarious. I always know when the grunts start that I need to finish up what I’m doing because in 10 minutes Owen’s awake and hungry!
- If he’s really hungry and I make him wait too long, he’ll start sucking his own arm. He’s given himself a huge purple mark before.
- He loves to snuggle.
-He loves to take a bath, and he also loves showers. Clint puts his little face right under the water and he loves it.
-He can squeeze the fat rolls into his newborn clothes, but he’s fitting into his 0-3 month stuff as well.
- He’s still not a huge fan of his car seat, but he does better now. He prefers the car to be moving.
- He hates binkies and bottles. Clint’s gotten him to take a bottle twice over the last 2 months and he drank about an ounce and a half both times.
- He can sleep through just about anything.
-He loves his mama. :) Sorry Clint. I’m his favorite.
- He does pretty good when Bode tries to love on him. Bode loves to smell and or rub his head, kiss him, play with his hands, talk baby talk to him and hold him.
-I think he likes tummy time. He doesn’t usually fuss. His neck is so strong too! He’s such a little bobble head.
- Clint plays these games with him and it just melts my heart. He’ll play drums with Owen’s hands and do all sorts of funny stuff. Owen smiles and it’s so cute.
- He loves to lay in his bassinet and stare at the bathroom ceiling while I shower.
I’m sure there are more things, but that’s all I can think of for now.
He is so fat! I just love it. I thought it was so funny that he was busting out of that shirt below.
We love you baby Owen!
