Bode

I kind of skimmed over Bode being 4 now because I couldn’t find the time to catch up how I wanted to. I just love him to pieces. He’s such a great kid! He’s amazing with Owen. I mean they have their moments, but Bode is the first one to offer him a sippy or a toy if he is crying. He’s a great help to find things. For example if Owen has a dirty bum, Bode will find me a diaper or grab me wipes. Or do just about anything I ask him to. If I am trying to make dinner or do something and Owen starts getting mad he will come grab him and take him somewhere to play with him. It doesn’t always work, but so thoughtful that Bode tries to help me out like that.

He’s a great student. He’s in a preschool class with some of the neighbors and I worried how they would all get along. His teacher said that he is great. She said he’s always willing to participate and is very nice to the other kids. I’m so proud that he loves school and he tries really hard to please his teacher and do well. She said that he is one of her very best students. I loved hearing that!

He’s very emotional and tender hearted. He does not like to be yelled at (what kid does? But he really does not like it.) He gets really upset if he’s done something on accident and bursts into tears. Usually if he’s accidentally hurt Owen somehow I’ve got to console a crying Owen and a crying Bode who just feels so bad about whatever he did.

He LOVES dinosaurs. I mean this obsession has been going on at least 2 years and still going strong. He is getting more creative and loves to pretend they are doing things around the house. Sometimes napping, sometimes eating.. just whatever. He loves to play with me and his dinosaurs. He calls it dino squad and he ALWAYS wants me to be the son and he’s the dad. He does not always like to do the whole roaring and fighting playing either. He likes to play nice with them. It’s pretty cute.

He’s so self entertained. It’s so nice! He loves to play the Wii. He can navigate around and do everything himself. He’s so good at it too! He also loves to play games on my iPhone and his Kindle Fire HD. He is so smart. He’s especially good at Where’s my Water?" Him and I both love that game! He loves to play on the computer. We have a bookmark to PBS.org and he loves playing all the games from all the shows he watches. Between all that and the TV/Netflix he stays pretty entertained. I do limit his time with electronics and at first he will act like it’s such a huge travesty that he can’t do anything, but then he gets so creative and makes Owen play Dino Squad with him or we read books or do puzzles or other crafts. He loves to cut paper. I swear I could give him scissors and paper and he could stay entertained forever. We try to do that activity when Owen is napping.

He doesn’t like eating breakfast. We struggle every morning to make that kid eat something. I recently left town for a week and Clint didn’t really push the breakfast too hard and when I got back it’s like he had sworn off breakfast forever. “But Dad didn’t make me eat it!” Thanks for that Clint. :) Around 10am is when he starts wanting to eat. He still loves his soy milk only now he knows that it’s soy milk and not regular milk like Owen drinks. He will specifically ask to drink some soy milk. So funny.

He is usually asleep by 7:30 or 8 or even 8:30 depending on the night. He wakes up around 7:30-8 and maybe once a week he will still take a nap for me. Sometimes two or three. It all depends on what we do and how late he got to bed etc. When he’s over tired he is miserable. He cries and whines about everything.

He hates ice cream, but loves popsicles.

He went through a phase where he wouldn’t give hugs or kisses and now he has to have like three hugs and a bunch of kisses before I can leave or put him to bed. It’s so funny.

He hates wearing pants. HATES to. He will wear them to school or if we go anywhere and then as soon as he gets home he will ask me if it’s ok if he puts shorts back on. Clint said that his whole childhood he wore shorts. It would be the middle of winter in Sheridan, WY and Clint would wear a coat and gloves and a hat and then shorts and boots. Hahaha.

I’m so glad to be this kid’s mom.

LOVE YOU BODE!
