My brother in law belongs to an airborne unit in the military and we were so lucky to be able to watch one of his jumps while they were in town! It was the most amazing experience. It made me feel so proud of all our service men!! We literally had front row seats and one guy landed within 30 feet of us. It was insane.
We got there with plenty of time to spare because we didn’t want to miss out on anything. Lucky for us, it was not far from Eagle Mountain where we live. I think it was over an hour of waiting, but the kids had a blast. It was so dusty and dirty, but a little boy’s paradise. Bode kept busy throwing rocks at everything and miss Kenna and Kaylan had a pretty fun time too. I snapped a few pictures while we waited. This is my cute grandma and grandpa B.
I had Kelli try and get a picture of Clint and I. Somehow.. it never works out. Clint tried to do a stupid face and I’m trying to tell him to just please give me one normal face and it ends up we both look stupid. Ah well. We tried.
After Clint ruined our picture, I had him take one of Kelli and I. He was acting like he was a professional/tourist or something and moving all around and tilting the camera all weird.. He’s just goofy. Always.
I thought it’d be cute to have Bode hold Kaylan’s hand. What I didn’t realize is that he had just picked his nose and was in quite the dilemma. He didn’t know where to put the booger and Kaylan wasn’t impressed he was still holding onto it! I didn’t even know what was going on until Kelli told me. Gross Bode!
Kenna was moving around rocks to make her seat a bit more comfy. She is so cute and so darn funny!
The perks of having a potty trained boy is that you can have him go just about anywhere. :)
The plane finally came!! We watched it go past us and turn around.
One by one the jumpers started coming out! Aaron was #5 so he’s the one closest to the plane in this next shot. He hadn’t pulled his shoot yet.
Here’s all 11 from the first jump! We got to watch 3 separate groups jump. SO COOL.
Here is Bode riding on my dad’s neck, as he calls it. He loved watching all of this go down. He still talks about how Uncle Aaron jumped out of a plane every time we see one now.
Sweet Kaylan girl was so excited to see her daddy. It was pretty cool because he was able to hang out with us as we watched the other two groups jump. Everyone had a bunch of questions for him, and his friend even came over and filled us in on some of what goes down.
Some of the guys landed SO hard and were dragged by their shoots. Aaron said that has happened to him 3 times, and he’s landed on concrete one time! I couldn’t even imagine. It was kind of scary for a few minutes because it looked like one guy wasn’t getting up. Aaron and his friend Spenser went running over to check everything out. My heart was sure pumping, but the guy got up and everything was ok.
I snapped a few pics of the cute family.
I don’t know how my sister does it, being a military wife! She is so supportive of Aaron and so proud. I really look up to her because I know she is sacrificing a lot for Aaron to be serving our Country, as is Aaron. This last bit of training for Aaron was the end of a 7 month stretch being away from home. Kelli got to see him here and there a bit, but wow that would be so hard. Kaylan and Kenna are so sweet and she does an amazing job with them. It takes a special kind of family to handle the stresses of it all, that’s for sure. Thanks Thurgood family for all you guys do!!!!!!! And thanks for letting us be a part of this jump. :)

That's so exciting. I'm sure it was awesome to be there in person to watch. I always love looking at all the pictures you take!
What a neat thing to watch. And yes I really admire military families. Amazing dedication!
Awesome pictures, Lori!!!
Ok, somehow I missed like 6 of your blog posts, so I'm just now reading this! You are so sweet! You are always so supportive of us and you were always checking up on me and the girls while Aaron was gone. I really appreciate your support and it was so fun watching the jump with you guys! Aaron loved having you there, too. Us Military families can only get through with the support of our loved ones! You guys are the best and we sure love you!
