For all you regular readers (all 3 of you…) I’ve been trying to catch up on all things dealing with cancer and trips to Washington. BUT – I am going to go out of order to blog about the 4th of July!
We had such a fun time this year! We started the morning by trying to see the movie Despicable Me 2. I guess so did the rest of Utah, so it was sold out. Like all day. Bummer! We took the kids to Chik-Fil-A instead and then headed to buy fireworks.
When we told Bode we were going to get fireworks, he asked us if he could have a backpack again. Last year we bought him a small backpack full of fireworks and he remembered! We had to get it for him again. The fireworks in it were all dinky and small, so we did those in the middle of the afternoon.
A nap was in order for these boys who were going to be up super late! Lucky for us, they obliged. Later we had a little BBQ for ourselves and Owen loved the corn on the cob. So much so, that he started eating it before it was cooked.
Up next was the firework show at Thanksgiving Point. We got there about 7:30 and the boys played and played until the show started. We went with our friends, the Farmers, and it was a great time! We did sparklers, watched people light off fireworks, Played catch, Clint and Colin took the kids on a little train ride, and Owen ran around and stole everyone’s balls. He’s so darn cute that everyone was like, “Oh hi there! He can play with that! It’s ok!” What a little thief. He ran around SO fast. His curly head and red cheeks were hard to spot in a crowd. Once it started getting dark I was feeling major anxiety over Owen and making sure I knew where he was all the time. Even once the fireworks started, he made a run for it a few times.
We are so blessed to live in a land where we are free! I’m so thankful for the men and women who have made that possible. Happy fourth!!
