I have a tree!! Clint didn’t want to get one this year. He thought it was a waste of money. He said Bode wasn’t old enough to enjoy it. We were going to be spending Christmas in Idaho this year, so I figured maybe he was right and we didn’t need one. Plans changed, so now we are going to be here for Christmas and we are going to Idaho over New Years. Once I found that out, I thought I have to get a tree. Clint still didn’t want one. Today while he was at work, I drove the truck over to Walmart and got the lights and the bows. I tried to get one box of lights thinking that would be fine, when a little old man told me I probably needed 4-6 boxes. I had no clue because I have never had a tree in my own house before. I went with 6 boxes of the 100 count which was perfect. They were out of tree stands, so I headed to the tree place at the roundabout in Lehi. It was about 1:20 and there was a sign it didn’t open until 1:30. I wasn’t very happy about this because Bode was already getting ready for a nap. The punk teenager running the stand didn’t show up until almost 2:00! Bode was playing in the truck and did pretty good waiting. I think the kid felt bad because he charged me $30 for this lovely tree I chose. (I think that’s good, but once again I really don’t know.) After he sawed off the trunk and put it in the truck I was off to smiths for a stand. I got the stand and some candy canes and headed home. Bode went down for a nap and I hauled the tree inside. I was setting up the tree stand when I called my friend Janae who offered to help me get it up. I notice the tree stand was too small for my tree trunk! She kept an eye out for Bode while he napped and I headed back over to smiths to exchange the stand for the larger size. We got it up and I put the lights on and the candy canes. Janae had little berry bundles she didn’t use this year and let me borrow them. I put the bows on it and Voila! I love my tree!!!! I can’t believe I did most of it all by myself! This is our first Christmas tree we have ever had. I just love it. Clint was pretty surprised when he came home from work, but he loves it too. Yay me. It smells so good.
Here is Bode waiting. I was happy I finally got some dancing on video.
Isn’t she a beauty??
I made Gunner sit there so I could take a picture and he thought I was mad at him! You can tell in his little face.
The cute berry things! She had a name for them, but I forgot it.
The stars were all cheesy and I couldn’t find one I liked. I was thinking ‘stay cheap so Clint doesn’t kill you’ and got the bows.
Bode has already broken 5 of these. I figured it was better for him to break these instead of ornaments. Maybe next year I will have a few more things to decorate with.

That sounds exactly like my story last year, except I did the whole fake tree thing. Deep down Kyle really enjoys:) I am sure Clint does too.
So cool that you did it yourself! I'm impressed! We bought a real one too this year and didn't realize they required so much water-it died. Oops!
Christmas is not the same without a tree~ so glad that you won this battle!
