Halloween

So this year Halloween was kind of a bummer. The boys are sick and it’s so sad. Bode is actually doing a lot better, but poor Owen can barely breath sometimes. I was supposed to go to Clint’s work around 11 to trick or treat and then have lunch and I totally forgot about the whole thing. I barely slept at all the night before because Owen was so sick. So we woke up around 8 and Owen went right back down for a 3 hour nap. I felt so sad for him and I wanted to rid my house of every single sick germ! I went into a deep cleaning frenzy. I seriously spent 3 hours scrubbing and organizing the entire upstairs when Owen finally woke up and got hungry. I’m sitting there feeding him and looking through my phone when I realize I have a ton of missed calls and texts. Clint was wondering where I was and my sister in law (our husbands both work together) was wondering where I was. The truck has bad tires, but since we got new tires for the Mazda a few weeks ago, we’ve been waiting on getting new ones for the truck. Clint thought maybe one blew out and we were on the side of the road or something. I felt really bad! I left my phone downstairs and didn’t think much of it. He even called my neighbor who came by to check on us. :( I can’t believe I spaced that.

This is how the boys spent the afternoon. Well.. for Owen that is how he spent his whole day.

I kept building up Halloween and how much fun Bode was going to have trick or treating. He refused to go to a Halloween party the Friday before that my cousin was hosting because he said, “Mom I’m just too sick. I can’t want to go. I hab a tummy ache and I’m soo tired!” He wasn’t excited at all. He didn’t want to trick or treat either. He kept telling me, “But mom. I hab enough candy. I don’t need anymore.” Ahh! Clint had to work late and he didn’t even get home until almost 7. The kids started knocking at the door around 5! I was still making dinner and not ready for them at all. Bode opened the door, the kids said trick or treat.. and then Bode just shut the door again. It was pretty funny! I told him what to do from then on out so Bode manned the door for me until dinner was ready. Around 6 my friend Mindy came by with her kids to trick or treat. She asked if Bode had already gone and I told her that we were waiting on Clint to come home. She offered to take him for me and off they went. Owen was still sleeping and I didn’t have the heart to wake him up.

She told me that he wasn’t really into getting candy from people. He was more interested in the leaves.. and rocks he would find.. and he kept asking where I was. Bode is something else!

Clint got home and Owen was awake by then, so I got him dressed up and we walked around the neighborhood to meet up with Bode.

Bode and his candy! After we met up with my friend and Bode we trick or treated 2 more houses and went home. Clint wanted to watch football, Bode was done, and I didn’t care one way or another. Bode loved handing out candy! We let him do it all by himself. He’d open the door, grab the candy, and give it to each kid. Then he’d say stuff like, “Have a good night!” “Bye guys!” It was hilarious. He enjoyed handing out candy more than he did asking for it.

We had so many trick or treaters (Over 200) that we ran out of candy and started giving away the crappy stuff Bode got. After that, we turned off the light. It was around 8:15.

This is Bode with a mouthful of candy saying, “Mom! Stop taking pictures!”

I hope everyone had a great Halloween!

Bode's Birthday cake is AWESOME! Wish we had something close like Cabelas, looks like lots of fun!
