Every year our little community does Pony Express Days. There are just tons of different activities going on during that week and it’s a lot of fun. This year we went to the carnival a few different days and watched the parade. I tried taking the boys to the carnival by myself 2 different times over the course of the week but it was a nightmare every time. The first time I couldn’t find my baby carrier and decided the stroller would do just fine. Twenty minutes later I was pushing an empty stroller AND carrying the baby while Bode ran a muck. Epic fail. I couldn’t help Bode do the rides since I had to carry Owen and so he tried the HUGE slide by himself. He was terrified and I felt so bad. He did go down and ended up getting a slide burn on his elbow. He was so scared and the look on his face made me so sad. I praised him and told him what an awesome job he did going all by himself, and he was pretty proud of his little self when he was done crying.
The second time I went with my friend and her kiddos. We got there an hour before it opened and so we walked to the gas station and got treats for the kids. After that we took them to the park while we waited. By the time it started my kids were done. I didn’t even stay for the carnival!
Clint came with us Friday night and Saturday and things went MUCH better. Friday we got Bode 20 tickets. Same as last year. Last year we ended up giving away 10, seriously. This year he had the 20 gone in like 5 minutes. Man what a difference one year can make. He had so much fun! He loved going on the Ferris Wheel with Clint. At first he was terrified, but it ended up being his favorite ride.
First up Saturday was the parade. Owen was sound asleep and so Clint was going to come with him once he woke up. Bode loved seeing the helicopters overhead taking kids for rides and loved getting candy thrown to him. We walked down the neighborhood to sit with our friends and it was the perfect spot!! There was only one other kid besides Bode so all the candy and everything else was thrown right to them. Bode had so much loot! It was a little too loud for his sensitive ears and so he spent a lot of the time plugging them. He even hid in the bushes at one point because he said it was hurting his ears so bad. :( Clint never did make it to the parade because Owen napped forever.
Right as Bode and I were walking inside after the parade, Owen was just waking up. We all headed over to the carnival and Bode had a blast. We ended up getting him the dang wrist band for unlimited all day and he was in heaven. We went for a while in the afternoon, came home for lunch and naps.. then headed out again later on. Bode got a balloon, he won a trumpet from some game, he got popcorn.. he was totally spoiled! I headed home early to get Owen to bed and Clint brought me home some dinner. It was some Hawaiian chicken something another.. It was delicious! It was a pretty fun weekend! I loved it. Here are a ton of pictures.
These Cosmo pictures are for my nephew Drew! I told his mom that I’d blog this. He’s a huge BYU fan and we just so happened to see this guy at the parade. :)
