T Town - Again

I forgot to share a hilarious story about the first night we stayed in our hotel room. Owen was working on a dirty diaper and pretty hard at that. I waited a good long while and changed his bum. I was thinking it would be a lot worse than it was and mentioned something like that was a whole lot of work for not much in the diaper! (I know this story is totally gross by the way.. ) So anyway, I didn’t bother putting a new diaper on him because he needed a bath anyway. I put him in the bath and before I started the water I went into the bags to find the baby wash. I heard Clint panicked saying, “Owen pooped.” I’m like what? Sure enough… the tub was a huge mess. And he was playing in it. Oh my gosh it was so disgusting. Clint was gagging over and over and over again. Bode started gagging and ran out of the bathroom.  Clint had a hold of Owen at this point - who was a huge mess oh my gosh. He gave me Owen and had to get a towel to cover his nose and was still gagging with it on. He then started cleaning up the tub. Owen wanting to play in it and I was having such a hard time keeping him from crawling around and still trying not to get it all over me. Clint was grabbing like one paper towel at a time, trying to clean up a bit of the mess, gagging, throwing the paper towel away.. then he’d grab a new one and do it all over again. Owen was tired of being held back and started reaching for the mess and crying. It was such a stressful situation and we were both kind of freaking out. I told him I wanted to switch and asked him to grab Owen. In my mind I’m thinking good hell I can do that a lot faster… he was such a wreck with the gagging and everything. He’s like babe, I can’t take Owen! I just can’t. I said, “Well hurry up!! You are going SO freaking slow!” He yelled back that he was doing the best he could with some curse words I’m pretty sure and kept at it. He did grab a bunch of paper towels at a time after that. It was such a disgusting situation and were both so frazzled. Owen has NEVER done anything like that in his life. Or Bode for that matter. We are throw up mess pros – but the poop stuff… no.  Every time I look back on it I can’t help but burst into laughter! In the moment it was not funny though.

Ahh, Ok so carrying on with our Thermopolis trip.

They had a dinosaur museum and we had to take Bode. The sign bragged it was the  #1 Dinosaur Museum in the USA and we were both wondering who in the world said that. It wasn’t all that great. Bode skipped all of the fossils and stuff and went straight for the big ones. It took him like 10 minutes to go through everything and he wanted to go to the gift shop. Then he had his heart set on a $20 dinosaur. Ten minutes later we are walking back to our car  with the dinosaur in tow thinking, “Well, there goes $40.”  (It was $20 just to get in.) Clint reminded me that’s what happens when you’re on vacation.

We decided to stop at a little shop to get shakes after the museum. Bode doesn’t like ice cream so he was whining about it, but Owen was loving it.
