Our actual fourth of July was pretty lame. Clint had the day off, but he went fishing. He was gone all day long and got home around 1am. Bode hates fireworks and so I figured we didn’t need to torture him by going to a show this year. I dressed myself and the boys up in festive outfits and took some cell phone pictures of all of us. Bode thought it was pretty cool to make faces in the mirror. That’s about all we did that had anything to do with the holiday!
I took the boys swimming for a few hours and they were so tuckered out that night they were in bed by 7:30. I ventured outside to watch some of the neighbors lighting off fireworks and me and some of my girl friends ended up staying out talking and watching fireworks until around midnight. It was pretty fun! A few days later our other neighbors lit off their fireworks and so we went to check them out.
Owen missed out because he was in bed and Bode was terrified. We had talked him into doing a few sparklers in our yard before we headed over and he wouldn't even hold one. He was ok if they were in the grass or if Clint held them, but not him. He plugged his ears the entire fireworks show. He kept freaking out that he needed us to scratch him in certain parts of his body because he could not let his fingers out of his ears. It was pretty funny. He kept asking to go home and then he would act like he was kind of enjoying it.. but then beg to go home. We managed to stay for the whole thing and it was pretty cool.
