We rolled into Thermopolis and pulled into the parking lot of the hotel Clint booked online the week prior. It was immediately brought to our attention that he picked the crappiest hotel in town. We sat in the parking lot looking around for a least 5 minutes before Clint got out to go check in. I told him that we might want to look at the room before we check in, but he went ahead and got the keys.
We walked into the room and noticed the horrible smell first. Then Owen was wanting out of my arms and for me to put him down to crawl around. That’s when I noticed the huge oil stains on the dirty carpet. Then Bode walked over to the window and asked what the bug trap with all the dead bugs inside was for. Then Bode wanted to take his flip flops off and I told him he wasn’t allowed anywhere but the bed. Clint and I sat there for like 10 minutes. He wouldn’t say much.. I kept asking him what he thought and he would start to respond and then just go quiet.
We already knew the place we were at was completely full and we worried that other hotels would be too. We didn’t know if we could cancel our reservation on such short notice – or if we’d get our money back or anything. Clint seriously looked sick! It’s hilarious now thinking back, but I could tell that he felt so terrible that we might actually be stuck in that horrible room. I told him that I’d just go to the front office to talk to the girl. She was very nice and immediately refunded our money for two days and even told me the two best hotels in town and called them up for me to check for availability. They had one room with two twin beds and we were so thankful! It was in the park and right by the water park.

The boys were done being in the car, so I let them out to play while we waited for Clint to check in. They were being so cute!
This is the only picture I got of our room and it was as we were getting ready to check out. It was like pure heaven compared to the other one. Owen was SO happy after we checked in and he was bouncing around, squealing, giggling, clapping etc. It was so cute! Bode jumped from bed to bed and I held Owen and helped him jump too. It was so cute and we were having so much fun.
The hotel was right along the river and Bode was in love. After we got settled in we walked over to check things out. Owen was not fond of being strapped into the stroller, so he got to crawl around while Clint and Bode tried to catch a fish.
I got Bode some binoculars as a surprise present before our trip and he had those things glued to his face the majority of the trip. It was pretty funny because he kept looking through them the wrong way.
They didn’t catch any fish and Bode was shrugging to me, “Mom! I don’t know where they are!” Owen didn’t care much about the efforts to find fish. He was so happy to be out of the car/stroller!
Owen was pretty worn out and went to bed so fast. Clint and Bode kept trying to fish a little longer, but by the time they came back to the room Bode was ready to go to sleep too. Our first night in the hotel was pretty fun. Up next is driving to see buffalos and the water park. :)
