I’m pretty sure I have missed the last few months of updating this little squirt. Here is my attempt to catch up!
9 Month Stats:
- Length: 27 3/4 – 25%
- Weight: 17 lbs. 10 oz. – 10%
- Head Circ: 46.9 – 80%
He’s still just a small fella! We sure do love our Owen. He is the greatest baby, seriously. He is very happy and playful and likes to discover things on his own. He’s very easy going and so is his schedule. He definitely does have a schedule, but if life gets us off track and he is late for a nap or bedtime or just whatever he is so amazingly flexible. I love that about him! He’s kind of entered into the stranger danger phase and can be hesitant towards strangers. He loves his big brother and Bode loves him. They are buds. They like to do everything together. They even share a room now! He still wears a size 2 diaper and he is 6-9 month clothes. Sometimes he will fit a 12 month shirt or something. He got a healthy bill of health from the pediatrician at his last check up and had huge smiles for the nurse who gave him a shot. She said it was hardly fair that she had to inflict pain on him since he liked her so much. He was not happy for the shots, but he still had big smiles for her after all was said and done. He still has a small herniated belly button, but nothing to be alarmed about. It’s the cutest outie I have ever seen. I happen to love it. He’s got small patches of white skin under his diaper – below his belly button. We need to watch out for Vitiligo, but I’m hoping it’s nothing serious.
He’s 10 months old now and I can’t even believe in a few short months he will be a year old. He started talking and his first sound was “baba” He does not take bottles, so I’m thinking he was trying to say Bode. Now he will say Mama, Dada, Bode, and mimic a wave and a kiss. I’ll ask him sometimes where is Daddy? Or bode? or Mommy? And he usually looks right at who I am talking about. He is working on getting two bottom teeth and it’s so cute! It’s two white bumps and I keep waiting for them to cut through any day now. He still nurses and I’m honestly afraid he will never want to quit. I’m worried I’ll be like the woman on the cover of TIME magazine nursing a 3 year old. Ok not really, but I do need help with weaning. Any nursing mamas have advice?
Owen usually wakes up around 6:30-7am and will take his first hour and a half/two hour nap around 9-9:30. His second nap is around 2-2:30 for about 2 hours and he goes to bed around 6:30-7:00 for the night. He still wakes up once or twice to nurse and goes right back to bed. I still can’t even believe I get up with him because I KNOW he should be sleeping through the night, but oh well. I’m not blaming anyone but myself for not being more strict about it.
He still eats like a champ and loves avocados, buddy fruits, any kind of fruit – especially blueberries, peaches and pears. He is getting better about drinking liquids from a sippy and we switch from water, whole milk, soy milk, watered down juice, fruit smoothies or honestly I will just give him the buddy fruits as a drink with a meal. I feel like I need to make whatever he will drink count since he’s never been a fan of formula. His pediatrician scolded me for not making him drink it.
He loves to swim and has NO fear whatsoever. He always makes this cute weird face and blows in and out from his nose with his mouth closed over and over again. It’s hilarious. His tongue is still out of control and usually always curled. He walks along stuff and will grab for things with both hands and not realize that he’s standing on his own. As soon as he realizes it, he drops to the ground. I’m thinking he may be walking as soon as he gets the courage. He already has the stability. Well, he’s working on it.
Owen is always full of smiles and I just love him to pieces. I don’t know what I’d do without my momma’s boy!
